We hired Downtown Detectives for our son’s 16th birthday and what a great decision that was! These days it’s so difficult to get kids away from their electronics and this event required being outdoors and interacting with each other in person rather than online. The event was very well organized, Jenna & Nina met us at the restaurant where we had lunch, gave the group some brief instructions & sent the teams out to play. They were there the whole time to support them if they needed a hint and to announce the winning team. The kids had a great time & enjoyed competing against each other. We highly recommend Downtown Detectives!

The Downtown Detective experience was fantastic! It's a great team building event that offers the experience of being down by the beach and solving a tough mystery. Would highly recommend for those looking for an outdoor event and a challenge.

For our team’s quarterly meeting we decided to go out and do something fun for a team building day. We were referred to ‘Downtown Detectives’ and I am so thankful for it. My first impression of this company came with a fun and friendly introduction to the day’s activities with Nina & Jenna. You can tell they love what they do which also showed in the activities they created that followed.
After clear direction and objectives of the tasks in front of us, our teams set off to solve the “case” we were assigned. Being outdoors and not in an office was great to start, but being on the pier, down the beachline, and around the beautiful beach-side streets of Huntington Beach was so perfect and rejuvenating. Each spot we were directed to was not only beautiful but also educating as each puzzle had a unique way it was set around some history of Huntington Beach. I have done escape rooms and scavenger hunts before but the creativity of each puzzle with ‘Downtown Detectives’ was a different experience with such a great balance of simplicity yet very challenging solutions.
These puzzles were tough… but very solvable with every team member’s individual contribution as we thought and spoke through each possible step towards solving each puzzle. That is what made this so fun and perfect for our team…. It took us ALL to think and communicate through every challenging step in solving the overall case. I would absolutely recommend ‘Downtown Detectives’ to any team wanting to have fun, challenge your team to think and communicate, while enjoying the beautiful beaches we are blessed to be living by. Such a fun day for our team! Looking forward to book another event with ‘Downtown Detectives’ with our church Youth Group in the near future.

My husband, my son (15 years old), and I recently tried the Downtown Detectives outdoor adventure experience in Huntington Beach. We have never done an escape room or anything like this before, and boy were we amazed! When we arrived at the meeting place, we were warmly greeted by Nina and Jenna (the brilliant creators of the game). They explained the rules and presented us with a notebook of clues and a map that showed us the locations we would be walking to around Huntington Beach. We were all pleasantly surprised at how clever their puzzles were and at how they worked the existing artwork and architecture of Huntington Beach right into their puzzles.
It was fun to see how each of us brought something different to the game to help solve the puzzles. In addition to the fun of working out the puzzles, the scenery of downtown Huntington Beach itself was captivating. It took us just a little over 2 hours to complete the outdoor mystery game. My son said it was exciting and challenging and it kept his interest the whole time.
Since our minds were continually challenged for two hours, we were all a bit exhausted when we finished, but in a good way! We talked about it the whole way home and I couldn’t get the game out of my mind for a week after. I don’t understand how Nina and Jenna’s brains work to create something so clever, but I can’t wait for them to come up with another game so we can play that one too; I’m hooked!
I can see this as a really fun “team building” exercise for a company, or as a fun way for teens or adults to celebrate a birthday, or just something out of the ordinary to do on a weekend!

My partner and I played Downtown Detectives' Huntington Beach outdoor mystery challenge and had a great time! The puzzles have just the right amount of difficulty so we felt really smart and accomplished when we were able to figure them out. The location in downtown Huntington Beach is really fun, too. It's a beautiful area bustling with people which makes the game that much more enjoyable. I think the length of the challenge is just right. It took us about 2.5 hours to get through it and by the end we were tired but not exhausted. The creators of the game are also really nice and helpful. I can't wait until they create another challenge so I can do it again!

Being a Downtown Detective in Huntington Beach was so much fun! I never knew there was so much to discover. The scavenger hunt was challenging as well as entertaining; my teammates and I laughed and ran around like kids. When we got stuck the staff was super helpful without giving anything away. My daughter and her friends will be playing when she gets home from college!! Thanks Downtown Detectives for a great Sunday adventure.

This was my first game like this ever. I enjoyed getting some exercise for both my body and my brain. The puzzles varied in difficulty and I was completely engaged the entire time. Walking around Huntington Beach with the sun, the surf and the beach town vibe was amazing. I have raved about and recommended this fun activity to all of my friends and family. I can't wait to play their next game.
